Vancouver artist and multimedia/video pioneer:Paul Wong

Many people might seen him before at Emily Carr last year, Paul Wong has played an integral role in the Canadian arts community, serving as both pioneer and mentor in the field of media arts. Since his early video works, he has experimented outside of any standard art conventions, dealing with almost everything political and personal. As one of the first in Canada to use video to examine his own identity, he uses the camera to explore performance, conceptual video, experimental narrative and documentary. Through his work, Wong has created a voice for non-exclusive video practices that distinctly put ordinary people behind and in front of the camera. Demonstrating an insatiable appetite for collecting, Wong’s archive illustrates his obsession with new technologies as well as his ability to approach art in the most uninhibited ways. Sorting and organizing, moving forward and backward through archives and new material, Wong develops what he refers to as “sketches” in the editing suite. He fearlessly allows viewers to interpret his work and embraces reactionary responses. Avoiding academic analysis, any form of script writing and preconceived production practices, Wong approaches his work with fluidity and personal instinct. Themes of identity, mortality and memory make frequent appearances in his practice, all presented with an unapologetic honesty that has come to characterize one of Vancouver’s premier artists.

here is his new video project about Vancouver Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 5tart

some artist’s urban intervention project

Cedric Bernadotte is the artist who’s experiments are often focused on the human presence in cities, how to use public spaces appropriately, and questioning the frontier between public spaces and private spaces.

Here, Cedric’s interventions made from stretch plastic that’s usually being used for the sealing of cargo to create new shaped spaces that become multifunctional by people uses.  The ultra flexible addition to the urban environment should be considered as a contribution to the debate about temporary use of public space.

My Favorite Panoramic Painting

A panorama is any wide-angle view or representation of a physical space, whether in painting, drawing, photography, film and video, or a three-dimensional model.

And this one is my favorite  one of  panoramic painting,

Along the River During the Qingming Festival

Along the River During the Qingming is the title of several panoramic paintings; the original version is generally attributed to the Song Dynasty artist Zhang Zedua. It captures the daily life of people from the Song period at the capital, Bianjing, today’s Kaifeng. The painting is famous because of its geometrically accurate images of boats, bridges, shops, and scenery. Because of its fame, it has been called “China’s Mona Lisa”.

redo my Project 4: Urban intervention

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is my redo project for Urban intervention. What I changed are the font of the text, I enlarged the text in order to drawer viewer’s focus on the message. Also, I changed the color in order to drawer viewer’s attention to the vinyl sticker, because the red is the color can be seen by people from the most distance. In addition, I changed the position of the vinyl sticker because it make more sense to let people hit the “High Five” .

Caution

A winning smile helps to draw good impression, gleaming tooth make a smile more sparkling. Brushing tooth is more important than we thought, it is a simple task, but lots of people brush their teeth incorrectly.  I am one of the them. Dentist suggest that everyone should spend 2-3 minutes every time when they brushing tooth, and every single teeth should be taking care of individually. How many people really care if they brushed every single teeth front and back, top and bottom? In fact, I, as in the video, separate my tooth into 3 area, front, left side, and right side, tooth in each area are brushed together. Even though I know the correct way to brush the tooth, I’m not following. Most of time, I’m not focused when I’m brushing my tooth, I do some other things at the same time like watch TV, watch movie, take shower, use computer by one hand.

In addition to bad looking that makes a person less attractive, the outcomes of brushing tooth incorrectly is costly. It is very expensive to see dentist if you don’t have insurance to cover, we all know the care card doesn’t give you free teeth care.

That’s why I’m here to give you guys a caution: Brush your tooth both mentally and physically. Did you brush your tooth seriously this morning?
